I recently came across the design studio Studio Ashby and wanted to share some interiors that caught my eye. I would love to put my feet up and relax in any of these spaces. All photographs are by Studio Ashby.

Dream Holiday

This pandemic has been going on for so long, I look forward to the day when my family can go on a holiday. When I read about this rental on airbnb I had to share, the house is so good!  If I won the lottery and could travel anywhere in the world, Australia would be at the top of my list. The art and design community there is so inspiring. This iconic mid-century modern home in Victoria was built by Sibbel Builders. Over forty years later it was bought by his daughter and restored. Scroll through the photos and I think you will agree it’s a gem.

Release of New Artwork

Before the holidays I finished up a collection of 9x12” paintings on paper. The other day I found time to photograph them and they are now available in my online shop. The combination of texture, organic shapes, and a neutral palette bring these pieces to life. Check them out here

“Wanderer”

“Hung Up”

“In The Clouds”

“Pottery #1”

“Pottery #2”

“Pottery #3”

Hang one on its own, or a series of two or three for that perfect statement. These pieces are the perfect combination of modern and classic designs.

As soon as I clicked onto the website of These Walls I was in love with everything! The wallpaper patterns, fabrics, colour palettes, the styled vignettes. I truly believe that I love everything that comes out of Australia. They have some talented folks down under. Here are some things that caught my eye…enjoy!

“The spaces around us resonate with our unique stories, memories and our interiors are deeply intertwined in these conversations of living.”

So long 2021...

Thank you to everyone who decided to shop small this holiday and throughout this crazy year. I love to create and am thankful that you continue to support, share and comment on my work. A collector recently sent me a photo of my collage in her festive home and it made me smile. Thank you Abby!

Some exciting things happened for me this year and I’m glad I was able to share these experiences online with you. I had the opportunity to collaborate and connect with some incredible people. The pandemic has kept me from traveling, and I hope in 2022 I will be able to gather inspiration from everyday experiences. Museums, art galleries, being a tourist, and exploring other cities. It feels like so long ago that these things occurred in my life.

Words by Katherine Heath

I’m excited to see where my work takes me over the next few months. I’ve never been a person to make a mood board or have a list of goals. I have some ideas in the back of my mind that I never got around to experimenting with. We’ll see what happens. Happy Holidays friends!

I love creating, and every collection I share with you becomes my new favourite. This one is filled with neutral colours and textures and pieces that are large scale. I recently started to work on 18x24” collages, and I am glad I finally gave in to my fear and ordered the paper and packaging.

Just a reminder.

I just finished reading Dave Grohl’s book The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music and really enjoyed it. I bookmarked page 73 as I wanted to remind myself to go back and make note of these wise words.

I recently discovered designer Tamsin Johnson and wanted to share some projects that caught my eye. Colour, pattern, and texture are done so well!

Torrey at Beastly Threads pieces make me so happy. The vibrant patterns and colours are amazing! “This organic cotton voile infinity scarf was hand block printed using nontoxic dyes by a group of talented artisans in Jaipur, India. With each product sold, a significant portion of the profits will go to habitat and wildlife preservation efforts.”

Fall release with Rug & Weave

I can’t pick a favourite from this newest collection for Rug & Weave. Last week I had the opportunity to deliver the artwork in person and check out the new storefront. These original collages reuse scraps from the pillows that they hand-make. I'm glad I could help them limit their textile waste. Texture, pattern and colour! All of my favourite elements combined to make one stunning collection of art. Hang one on its own, or a series of two or three for that perfect statement. Check out a selection available online here or stop into their Guelph storefront location to see the full collection. The sizes available are 9x12” and 18x24”.

Happy Shopping!

I’ve been working on some new pieces and am excited to share them with you. I’m ready to take a break for a few weeks before the busyness of the holiday season.

Style at Home

It was definitely a pinch-me moment when designer Sarah Bernie told me my artwork was included in her feature for the October issue of Style at Home. This is my first time seeing my work in a magazine, which was exciting. This home is lovely and the clients’ art collection brings the space to life.

New Collages!

I am so in love with this latest collection of contemporary collages. Collectors have requested pieces on a larger scale, of course, I was up for the challenge. Each original collage is 18 x 24", shop the collection here.

These pieces can easily adapt to any space and are the perfect way to update your interior. Create a vibrant focal point by grouping two or three together. Above a sofa, credenza, or bed...the possibilities are endless. I hope you connect with them in some way, I truly enjoyed the process of creating each one.

I love this grouping together, a classic neutral palette.

The contrast of linear and curved shapes compliment one another in this grouping.

I really enjoyed working larger and am looking forward to creating more original work this size. If you are a designer or collector, please feel free to contact me to chat about custom pieces. I find that working outside of my comfort zone helps me further develop my style.

Lately

I just finished making some new collages that are on a larger scale, this weekend I plan to glue them down. Make sure you are signed up for my newsletter, you’ll be the first to know when they will be available in my shop.

It is currently snowing outside as I write this, I will remind you it is almost June. Here are some things that are bringing me joy and inspiring me. I will just imagine I am sitting here relaxing at this dreamy place on the water!

Inspiration

We’ve been in lockdown here for just over a month now and my routine is very similar every day. Making artwork has been keeping me busy on the days I feel like creating. I always save so many images on my phone and laptop that inspire me. I’m often attracted to colours, shapes, and compositions in a design or photograph. These photographs allow me to escape to another place for a few minutes. Hopefully, you connect with them in some way.

Mother's Day gift ideas with Rug & Weave

Mother’s Day is coming up and we are currently in our third lockdown here in Ontario. If you are looking for gift ideas check out Rug & Weave based out of Guelph ON. They have a great shop with many unique and handmade pieces. Support small businesses if you are able to.

I browsed the site and picked a few of my favourite things that I think any friend, mom, or daughter would be happy to receive.
