When I create art I am usually listening to a podcast. I enjoy personal stories and comedy, no true crime for me. I just finished Dana & David’s chat with Drew on the latest episode and enjoyed it a lot. “Comedy is medicine” - Drew Barrymore. Every week they make me laugh so much, it has kept my spirits up over the pandemic.
I just came across this house tour and interview from last summer and it made me very happy. Her art collection is unreal!
“In a world of ephemera, I find it important to live with something more lasting and meaningful. Art has a story and is something that took time and human hands to create. There is so much beauty in artistic expression, and I love surrounding myself with it in our home." - Chandra Johnson
I love this photograph by Ed Freeman. It spoke to me immediately, the composition and colour palette are perfect. You don’t have to be an expert to know what lights you up and gets you excited. I always think…buy what you love and you will always find a spot for it. Buy from the heart.
I just discovered the artist Elizabeth King Stanton, this painting is so wonderful.
If you are looking for something to watch, I enjoyed Amy Schumer’s new show Life & Beth. Another comedy that I binged is Starstruck…so funny! The documentary “Until The Wheels Fall Off” about icon Tony Hawk was pretty good as well. His passsion for his sport is unreal.
Last month I thrifted a book on potter Hans Coper. I had never heard of him before and connected with his textured pieces instantly. His pottery has me inspired!
If you need a Mothers Day gift I think art is always the perfect thing. I mentioned a lithograph print that I am interested in to my husband, it reminded me of my daughters.
